Huge crowds have again turned out in Israel to push their government to make a deal to free the hostages still being held in Gaza. But the Israeli government appears unwilling to budge on its plans to expand the Gaza offensive.

Around 350,000 protesters filled the streets of Tel Aviv on Tuesday, demanding an end to the Gaza war and the release of 50 remaining hostages, believed to be held in Gaza City. Demonstrators blocked roads and gathered at Hostage Square, urging action as fears for the hostages grow.

Despite public pressure, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reaffirmed Israel’s military strategy, rejecting ceasefire talks. Meanwhile, Hamas is awaiting Israel’s response to its latest proposed deal.

In Tel Aviv, protests have again erupted against Benjamin Netanyahu. Demonstrators have accused the Israeli prime minister of rejecting peace deals to serve his own political ends, as Gaza mourns the 20 dead killed in airstrikes on a hospital in Khan Younis.

Protesters blocked a highway near Tel Aviv during Israel’s “Day of Disruption,” demanding an end to the war and the return of hostages.

Pressure is growing on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to negotiate with Hamas. In Gaza, Israeli airstrikes continue, including a double strike that hit Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, killing at least 20 civilians, among them five journalists.

Palestinian officials in Gaza say at least 20 people have been killed in an Israeli attack on Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. Five journalists are among those killed. The IDF has expressed regret for any harm to uninvolved individuals.

Israeli airstrikes on Nasser Hospital in Gaza have killed multiple civilians, including medical staff, patients and at least five journalists working with international news organizations.

Reuters, The Associated Press and Reporters Without Borders have condemned the attack and demanded accountability from Israel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has denied intentionally targeting journalists, stating that they carried out an operation in the hospital’s vicinity.

This incident comes in the wake of another deadly attack two weeks ago that killed Palestinian reporter Anas al-Sharif, who was employed by Al Jazeera.

A UN-backed hunger monitoring agency has declared famine in Gaza City. Friday’s announcement by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification comes as Israeli forces are massing to take over the city. Israel has denied that starvation is taking place.

Over half a million people in Gaza are facing catastrophic hunger, according to a UN-backed report. Displaced residents describe months of starvation, limited aid and ongoing conflict.

As Israeli airstrikes intensify and access to food and water remains scarce, humanitarian organizations have warned the crisis will deepen unless fighting stops and aid flows resume.
