Huge crowds have again turned out in Israel to push their government to make a deal to free the hostages still being held in Gaza. But the Israeli government appears unwilling to budge on its plans to expand the Gaza offensive.

Around 350,000 protesters filled the streets of Tel Aviv on Tuesday, demanding an end to the Gaza war and the release of 50 remaining hostages, believed to be held in Gaza City. Demonstrators blocked roads and gathered at Hostage Square, urging action as fears for the hostages grow.

Despite public pressure, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reaffirmed Israel’s military strategy, rejecting ceasefire talks. Meanwhile, Hamas is awaiting Israel’s response to its latest proposed deal.
