Ukraine marks 4th Independence Day since Russia’s invasion

Ukraine marked its 34th Independence Day on August 24, looking back on three and a half years of defensive war against Russia. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy led the ceremony in Kyiv. He was accompanied by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Ukraine marked its fourth Independence Day since Russia’s full-scale invasion with solemn ceremonies and renewed resolve. In Kyiv, a minute’s silence honored fallen soldiers, while President Zelenskyy vowed never to surrender. Canadian PM Mark Carney visited in solidarity, stressing the need for security guarantees.
