Sandra Bradley once struggled with an eating disorder. Now, she competes in strength events such as Scotland’s Highland Games. How did she turn it around?

Women’s strength sports are becoming increasingly popular thanks to athletes such as Sandra Bradley. Officially Germany’s strongest woman, Bradley has also won the title of Europe’s strongest woman and set world records. Strength training helped her overcome the toughest time of her life. As a teenager, Bradley struggled with an eating disorder and once weighed only 47 kilograms (103.4 pounds). At 16, she discovered lifting. As a personal trainer and strength coach, she now helps other women break free from societal expectations. DW accompanied her to Scotland’s Highland Games.
