Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has revoked some of the perks for lawmakers that sparked violent public protests. In response to the crisis, he canceled his attendance at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in China.

Mass protests have erupted across Indonesia, triggered by outrage over lawmakers’ perks and rising living costs. Demonstrators demand wage increases, tax cuts, and anti-corruption reforms. Violence escalated after a viral video showed police fatally hitting a delivery driver. President Prabowo Subianto condemned the unrest and announced cuts to parliamentary allowances.
